| Fylde District Senior Sections Challenge Trophy Rules (word version here) A “Team” shall be defined as the following: A number, as defined by the Challengers, of members of a Fylde District Explorer Scout Unit or A number, as defined by the Challengers, of members of Fylde Local Scout Network. The Challenge is issued to the Team holding the Challenge Trophy by any other Team. All Challenges MUST comply with all Scouting regulations i.e. POR and have the relevant qualified individuals present for the event. If the holding Team wins the Challenge Trophy, they cannot be Challenged by the same Team until they have competed against all other possible Teams. (This is so everyone gets a turn) A Challenge can be anything, so long as there is a definite winner (A list of suggested activities is below) The Challenging Team decide on the numbers playing and this must be declared at the time of the Challenge. All Challenges must involve at least 4 members per Team. The Challenging Team must also decide the length of the event but this is not to be less than 1 hour or more than 1 week; this must be declared at the time of the Challenge. Before a Challenge is issued it needs to be approved by either: the unit leaders or the DESC. When a Challenge has been issued the holding ESU needs to approve/reject the Challenge within 1 week of the issue. However if you reject a Challenge you must accept the next one issued to you. You must undertake the Challenge within 1 month of the Challenge being accepted. When a Challenge has been accepted and the date fixed the challenging Team needs to inform the DESC with the following details:
The below list are examples of events that could be Challenge Trophy events, they are by no means exhaustive, as stated above anything can be a Challenge Trophy event as long as it has a single definite winner by its conclusion.
Anything at all in fact, from; a sport to a scouting skill as long as two or more Teams can play and there is an overall winner agreed by both Teams or an independent adjudicator. There are to be no rematches if a game is set to last an hour and after that time there is a draw you either flip a coin or next goal wins kind of thing. One extra item when on district camps, the Challenge Trophy must be taken, Challenges can be issued at any time, and need to be accepted/declined within one hour of issue as with the above rules and must be undertaken in the next available free time slot. I would envisage that on camp the Challenge Trophy might change hands several times a day. Fylde Local Scout Network In the event that Fylde Local Scout Network challenge for the trophy a suitable handicap will be agreed between the DESC and Fylde's Local Scout Network Coordinator. Decoration On winning the Challenge Trophy, the winning Team will make a minor, tasteful decoration to the Challenge Trophy. Please ensure that the Challenge Trophy is always transportable and not fragile. Ownership Ownership of the Challenge Trophy only belongs to a Team that has won a declared Challenge Trophy event. Under no circumstances can a team be Challenged that have simply acquired it through ‘deviant' methods. Additionally if the Owners of the Challenge Trophy have misplaced it or allowed it to be acquired through ‘deviant' methods, they must declare this and face the fact they should have looked after it better! Review of Rules The above Rules will be reviewed, at a minimum, every 12 months from the date of issue. Any other such amendments can only be agreed by the Fylde District Explorer Scout Forum. |
